Hear from Skelton as she recounts this ground-breaking experience and discover her long-lasting impact on the inclusion of women in the American space program.

In 1928, pioneering aviatrix Elinor Smith became the youngest licensed pilot in the country. Discover what it was like to grow up during the Golden Age of Aviation and fly alongside Elinor as she recounts her record-breaking feats and the daring stunt that made her famous: flying under New York’s four East River Bridges!

Discover how anyone can make a difference in their own community through this hands-on, historical workshop! Based on the life of inventor Mary Walton and her race to beat Edison, students learn about life in the 1800's and the noise-pollution problem that plagued New York's elevated railroad. By experimenting with a number of sound-absorbing materials, they'll help Mary find a solution to quiet the trains, leading to her groundbreaking patent!​

In February 1916, Marshall Mabey, a "sandhog" working on the construction of New York City's Montague Tunnel, miraculously survived a blowout after being shot up through the riverbed and over the East River. Learn about how the tunnels under New York were constructed and relive the adventure—and danger—of working as a sandhog while Marshall weaves the tale of his harrowing experience.

Meet Margaret, a bubbly aspiring journalist headed to the amazing 1964 World's Fair! This interactive storytelling performance allows students a glimpse into the innovative pavilions and festivities of the Fair, as well as highlights the changing political and music scenes ​of the ​
​mid-1960's.

But just in case they can’t make it back to Earth for another 612 years, learn about how YOU can help to keep the subway clean using a few helpful human tools, tips from the MTA’s "Courtesy Counts" Campaign, and some creative ideas of your own!

Join us for a (surprise!) rap battle between a New York City Bus and Subway to finally answer the age-old question, “WHO IS BETTER PREPARED FOR WILD WEATHER?” Modeled after the hit web series Epic Rap Battles of History, get ready for three rounds of riotous rhymes that are simultaneously hilarious and educational! Who wins? YOU DECIDE!
